I just put this one up on youtube. I first heard this song decades and decades ago when my Dad had an Edison Baby Console with lots of old DD's and this crazy song was in there. I never forgot it, and when I got into the hobby myself many years later I finally tracked down a copy of it. Here it is sung be Vernon Dalhart as "Robert White", yes its the same version that I had heard when I was a young lad.

It sure is a follow up. They even stole some of the lyrics. What about the "lover who was always undercover", and they only slightly altered the "old and young by-goshes" in "old and young gulashes".

I wonder what the copyright owners would have thought of it at the time..........

When I was a young lad and listened to it for the first time, the record was already over 30 years old !! Now the record is 86 years old. So that probably answers your question smart guy!!

Hey! I can top that! I was present in the Edison studios when the song was recorded.
