Hi, does anyone have a genuine or repro elbow for an early 3 spring Monarch for sale please?
It’s the type is 45mm in diameter to the bracket fitting, and is held in place by the Y shaped flange and retaining screw.
I’d be extremely grateful if someone has one spare they’d sell me please!
Picture for reference. I’m based in the UK, thanks!!

That reference photo is an aluminum repro, the give -away is that it's too thick and you can see the rough casting on the inside.
I would keep checking eBay, they come up quite a bit.
This seller has one, and he has sold many, but this example isn't that great.
The real one is made of brass with nickel plate in two halves.

I have one of these on the way, but the seller is in Turkey and has suffered with the earthquakes there so there are delays. It's the last bit I need to complete a Monarch restoration, so it's just sat there and I'm getting impatient.
I reckon the inside can be polished up and smoothed out and it'll do until a more local version comes up.
The example you posted is expensive, especially with UK shipping which makes things really tough buying from the US. It'd make a reasonably cheap project a lot more expensive!
I'm loathed to buy a cheap repro with the sharp angle. Getting tempted to just make one myself in the end and see what I can come up with!

Original elbows for Victor horns are not cheap here in the US and can be hard to find - mostly because if we have them we keep them just in case we find that elusive Monarch Special ourselves. We don't give them up easily or cheaply. If you can find one for under US$150 you are doing well.
The Phonograph Shop based in New York has some very nice reproduction ones and Brian's postage might be more reasonable than Ebay's international rates. They have a quality reproduction elbow for $155 and a cheaper aluminum one at $80.00. You could contact Brian and ask whether the cheaper aluminum one would work while you wait for an original elbow to show up in the UK.
If it were me I would definately want an original elbow on a restored Monarch though I completely get being impatient to see it complete. Fate usually means that if I pay for a reproduction part to get a machine "finished", an original part turns up almost immediately.

Thanks for this, I’ll have to see how I get on with the one on order. Might have to cancel and order one of these.
I’ll no doubt get an original at some point but at least I’ll have a working machine. The rest of it’s all original so one part being a temp repro isn’t too bad!

Apparently I have one on the way. Shame it won't be here for Christmas but never mind.
That's a good one for $125, but not sure I can be bothered nickel plating it.

The Phonograph Shop repro elbow looks authentic

However, price including shipping to the UK is £138 so I think I'll keep on searching for an original.

I’ll let you know what this repro I ordered I’d like if it ever arrives! For £80 it’ll do a job I hope!
