Here is an unknown model of an Itaphone, a UK-made machine. It is the first one I have ever seen listed here.

$50 CDN, about $37 UD, 30 GBP, or 34 EUR --the price seems reasonable.

The crank handle design seems to indicate a Garrad motor.

Thanks. It is always interesting to look up the street location of manufacturers on Google Maps. 58 City Road appears to be a furniture shop now. Unsurprisingly the building has been replaced or extensively "modernised."

Here is a judgement in a 1931 lawsuit, THE S.M.T. GRAMOPHONE CO., LD. V. ITONIA GRAMOPHONES LD. AND IN THE MATTER OF THE TRADE MARK OF THE S.M.T. GRAMOPHONE CO. LD. At issue was The S.M.T. Gramophone company's copyright on the name consolette and the intentional or inadvertent use of name by Itonia. itonia argued that the name could not be copyrighted since its root, console, was a general descriptive term for a style of gramophone cabinet and was used throughout the industry. S.M.T.'s case was dismissed. Intonia was awarded costs .
