My Frankenstein Horn

I thought there was a thread about ugly phonographs but couldn't find it. I couldn't pass up this horn at a rummage sale. Someone thought it needed to be cut up and soldered back together. I have it displayed on an Edison Gem. It definitely gets attention when I show my collection.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

That horn looks the way I felt once after a surgery.

Definitely in the category of 'so bad it's good'.

I can see an early collector saying: "It's supposed to have a 14" brass bell horn to be authentic, but all we have is a 36" horn..."

"What did you get that horn from?"
"An AB...something."
"AB-
what?"
"AB... Normal..."

Have you compared the sound with a regular Gem horn to see if it improved it. That must be a horn cut and paste.

No I haven't compared the sound quality. I am sure that there is not a significant acoustic change. Someone suggested that I should send it to John Duffy.

I bet it sounds good. Weird thing about horns: Generally I have noticed that the uglier and stranger they look, the better they sound.
