I am working on a VV-IV and the bill gear is loose on the barrel. What's the best way to repair this? I don't have a spare.

No, the gear is loose on the arbor. Other versions of Victor motors had that gear riveted to the barrel. This one is slipping a little bit.

Hi Dave. I think if you got a very small cold chisel, you could imitate the 5 swaged areas by making 5 more, in the previously unswaged areas. This should swell the arbor enough to tighten the gear. In any event, it appears that the small pin would/should keep the gear from spinning on the arbor. That pin, btw, is sometimes referred to as a "Dutchman" pin. Don't know why though...

Hi Jerry!
The gear does move a little bit. I had planned to do what you suggest, but just wanted to make sure that there was not a better idea.
Thanks for the confirmation.
