I need a little bit of help. I'm a relative newbie to Victrolas. I have a VV-100, and am familiar with all the basics. I have taken apart my motor, regreased it etc. I am also in the process of rebuilding my reproducer. The question that I have is actually regarding the cabinet itself. It appears that somebody at some point removed the shelving, and replaced it with different shelving. Is it possible to replace with shelving that is original? I have looked on wyatt's and a few other victrola supply sites, and haven't come across anything...Any guidance anybody could give me, to steer me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, anybody know of any reliable 78 records in Southern/Mid Oregon or Northern California?

It should have seven horizontal shelves with semicircular cut-outs. These are to hold albums. Usually the shelves are made as a separate unit that is slid into the case and fastened in place. What does your machine have now?

You have to be careful that you do not put too much money in a VV-100 machine. Could be good practice doing it yourself.

True- though nice machines they are pretty common, extensive repairs could cost more than buying another one.

It has 3 square wooden shelves in it now. It looked original when I first bought it. I didn't even realize there was a different shelving system until I looked i the bottom, and found some old bolt holes. I bought without doing my homework, since I was so in love. I looked in George's store, and didn't see anything previously. I will shoot him an email. I don't mind putting a little money into it, despite it being a VV-100. I doubt I will ever sell it. I am cutting my teeth right now, so I can have other projects later (If my wife will let me). Thanks for the replys, you all have a great resource here!

The holes drilled through the bottom of the cabinet? Those would probably have been there to hold the bolts or stabilizers in place when the Victrola was originally crated and shipped from the factory. Most cabinet model Victrolas have them. Even my later model VV-4-40 has four holes running through the bottom, and extending into the record storage compartments on either side of the (central) horn.

I am not sure where you are, but here is a complete Victor VV-100 for $100 complete with the record storage section you are looking for. I am not sure whether you would ever find "just the shelving" for a price lower then what this entire machine is selling for, and then consider if you find a supplier that has just the shelving, what is the shipping charge going to be to get it to your location ? You could buy this machine, and take the record storage section to complete you restoration, and you still have the remaining machine to sell as is, or for the remaining parts, including the reproducer, case, lid, tone arm, turntable, motor etc. etc.
