Newbie here so patience is appriciated. I am currently cleaning up an Edison C19 and found an engraving "JJ 4485" on the top of the motor mount plate. Was this typical? What would the significance/meaning be? It doesn't match up with serial number or any other markings that I have found so any info or insite us appreciated. Thanks in advance!

My best guess is that someone "JJ" serviced the machine 4-4-85.

Could be owner's initials and last 4 of SSN. There was a fad of sorts for marking valuables that way in the 70s and 80s to reduce the likelihood of theft and assist with owner identification if something was stolen.

The inside lid of my Fairy Phonograph Lamp had a previous owner's name and driver's license number engraved.
