No mention on the internet.
Do you know of an example with the number on the rim?
James.

In the transition period from wax to blue it seems logical that many wax master molds were tested to see if they would be good to make over into the new process the lack of turn over on the end and the incomplete title ring mean this it a test molding only. The sub-master mould would be a bit bigger than the working mould so the outer diameter is probably about 1 mm larger than you would expect and may not play on some reproducers.

It is interesting that the later post 1917? Blue Amberol box contained the record. This suggests that it was a later test? Or perhaps a special request?

Does any of you have a wax Amberol or celluloid Amberol 4-minute (experimental) concert cylinder - or have you seen or heard of one?

I bought a few of these cylinders from Charlie (different titles). Edison continued some of the 4-minute wax recordings over to BA. Charlie thought these were special requests of titles which were not carried over.
Notice the very white plaster. In addition to the special requests, other rare blue amberols which did not go through the regular production line have this plaster. While I have no facts, my speculation is this plaster was too expensive to be used on a regular basis.
