Anyone know where I can buy a shaver/sander gizmo to ream the inside of my Blue Amberol records.
I have 104 records and some don't want to go all the way onto the mandrel.

Thanks,
Vern.

I've tried a few different ones over the years and have found this one most satisfactory. It has gone up since I bought mine, but what hasn't?

I use an old mandrel myself. The mandrel came off an incomplete dictaphone I bought for $10.

Slight change of topic. Does anyone know if asbestos was ever used in the plaster in BA's?

Brad,

My understanding of the material used in BAs was that it was simply plaster of Paris (gypsum & water) but have heard on some boards that there was asbestos involved. In either case, I would suggest care when reaming, rubber gloves and a face mask if you are going to do a number of them.

If REALLY asbestos involved: rubber gloves and a simple face mask won't help...

If your telling me there is asbestos in cylinders, I reamed about 50, with no protection. I should be dead!

Best regards,
Brad

I wouldn't  ...

As the incubation time is about 10-20 years after exposure... I don't hope you're too young... :?

Maybe "funny" and "hilarious" for some, I think you should be careful with it...

BTW: Amberola 1-A, over here in Europe (and America also ?) they often indeed use Haz-Mats suits when removing asbestos...!
