The introduction of the Orthophonic Victrolas in the fall of 1925 created a real problem for the Victor dealers. The problem described here and in various trade articles was that of valuing a trade in of an old style Victrola. How much to allow for a machine that cost hundreds just a year or two before? Here is a list of values compiled in an effort to regularize the cash values among dealers. I suspect many of these machines were taken back by dealers in an effort to close the sale on a new model and then ended up on the burn pile. The list is quite complete, sorry we weren’t around to pick up a few of these back then!
