Edison gem model A restoration

Hi I’ve got my gem working but it is struggling with the horn on. It spins well and plays the 2 minute cylinder but with the horn on slows it down. Is it because the horn is to heavy or the reproducer has a part missing I have attached photos.

Thanks, Wallace.

As to it slowing down with the horn in use, please show us, or describe, what kind of horn you're using. The Gem motor is not a "power house", anything much larger than a 10" cone horn will slow it down.

Many thanks for the reply

I'd say that's too much horn for the little Gem to handle. If I'm not mistaken, the Model A Gems had a smaller spring than their later versions, making matters even worse.

This would be a better bet... https://www.ebay.com/itm/226146076080?i ... R4qyguP0Yw
