Went up to an 'Antiques Marketplace' on CT Rte. 85 (same place I found the Columbia 'Europa' some years ago), looking for something non-phonographic. Didn't find what I was looking for, but did see a few interesting machines (no photos, alas):

. Amberola 50, average condition, outside speed control, no grille

. RCA portable

. Viva-Tonal portable (only one that tempted me, but I thought it a little overpriced)

Couple of electric motor acoustic portables (one a kiddyphone)

. Respectable-looking VV-90

. Columbia BF (no reproducer, 2/4 minute gearing)

. Empty AT case (sad)

. Rather nice VV-XI

. VV-4-4 (nice Ortho reproducer, no cracks; one horn door knob missing)

If you're in SE CT, and you want to check them out, go ahead (it's next to the place with the T. rex out front)...

What do you recall about the BF? Probably the best all-round Columbia cylinder machine, and even more desirable with the rare 2/4 capability. Condition, price?

You have a Europa? Pics please! I had one years ago that I sold, and that is one of my few regrets. I've been looking for another since, but they are rare, it seems.

Mine was a deep kelly green version of the lower one, with brown "leather". STILL kicking myself. Nice to see they are out there. Thanks for posting it.
