I'm in the process or restoring a 1925 credenza, I need to remove the grill to replace the cloth with new but I can't figure out how to remove it? I removed the 2 top screws and 2 bottom ones, is it just stuck ir is there more holding it on, I don't want to break it. I also removed the motor board to, as it slides up.
Anyone willing to help me out I'd be grateful, thanks

There are still two screws on each sides. Even if the grille is off the frame. The doors is on the way. I took one out to clear the way.
I hope it help.

Even after all the screws have been removed, the grille can still be in there very tight. So you have to be careful when you slide it up to avoid breaking it.
Before reinstalling, I usually use some fine sandpaper to smooth the insides of the grooves. I also use a sliver of a bar of soap to make the grooves a bit smoother when I reinstall the grille.

Well I have the doors off I stripped those today, so there are no doors on? I didn't see any screws on the sides just two on the bottom and two on top I will go look again???
Are there hidden behind anything?

You should be able to grab with both hands at the arches at the top of the grill and eventually work it out. There are only 4 screws holding it....

I had an early four door on which the grille was removed by removing screws - don't remember where or how many but they were on the front of the grille - then removing the motorboard and finally sliding the grille up and out of the top of the cabinet.

That's what I have Jim, I think it may be stuck from old varnish or something.. Because the top moves free and the bottom does, seems stuck in the middle of the grill someplace. I will check it out today. I'm just timid at pulling or putting an preside on it because the spindles in the grill are thin and fragile. An other ideas to try?
Thanks for your help everyone.

Perhaps you can try using a hair dryer on a low setting to soften the the lacquer/varnish where it is sticking.

For what it's worth, the later 4 door model has 6 screws (all visible).
