Blasting in a Columbia #2 reproducer

The #2 reproducer in my AT may not be the best that Columbia ever made; but I don't think it should sound as coarse and blasty as it does. Of course, I replaced the gaskets; and I've made sure that the stylus bar is secure on the diaphragm (I could find no visible wear on the stylus). Any suggestions on getting the best sound out of it?

I have noticed that some recordings overload the Reproducer used, regardless if it was rebuilt. Does this occur on all cylinders played?

So far as I have noticed, it seems to do so....
