I just purchased a Victor 2 and was cleaning it up and found that the tonearm, elbow, speed control and bullet stop looked like they were gold plated. Does anyone know if Victor 2s came with the tonearm and the other metal parts gold plated? I would post pictures but most of the color has been polished off now on the tonearm.
Thanks again

Victor II's were not gold plated. I think you might find that the parts have been coated with amber shellac at some time. Try applying some denatured alcohol and see what gets revealed.

Thank you, it does make sense because i used denatured alcohol at first and then metal polish and this is what was left. Thank you for clearing that up.

I'm tthinking then, that someone buffed off the nickle plating and exposed the brass. The speed control however is not brass underneath.

Jerry thank you, this is my first Victor phonograph with external horn. The goal is to get one of each eventually.

I remember my first Victor horn machine. It was a big deal! Congratulations!

Someone polished off all the nickel plate on that tone arm. The brass shouldn't be showing.

I agree someone polished all the nickel off and like Jerry said put some amber shellac on it to make it look better. Now the work begins and I have to get it back to its original condition.
