Thanks for posting this! One wonders: if they can identify the records, can they identify the phonograph?

I only have about 10 Berliner records, but one of them is Spencer's "Ma Onliest One". Yeah, let's hear them play a copy of that record for today's public. That record is VERY racial!

Cool! I will be riding my bicycle along the AlCan highway through Whitehorse this summer and will stop at the museum and check it out. Hopefully it will be on display and I will see if I can get better pictures.

But if the ship sank in a storm, one has to doubt if they were playing records when it went down - you couldn't keep the needle in the groove!

By the way, the Montreal Gazette got it wrong. In the Service poem it's Lake Lebarge, not Laberge. "...that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge, I cremated Sam McGee"). They'll probably get lots of letters to the editor on this one, including mine.

Unless they were playing "The Sinking of the Titanic" or "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."

Its a while ago now...but I'm sure I am remembering correctly....didn't they retrieve phonograph records from the wreck of the Titanic? I am sure I remember news footage of them being shown off when they bought the first haul of "artifacts" up from the depths.
