Ok, to avoid paying for a Automatic or Model B reproducer due to my frugalness, can I play back home recordings or commercial brown wax safely on one of these or will they rip into and wear out those like a Model C would?

Tracking force is probably excessive- but stylus size is definitely wrong. Ediphone stylus is too small if I remember correctly. Those were designed to work with black wax ediphone or blue amberol "educational" cylinders that would be played on a ediphone type machine. Ediphone is between 100 and 200 grooves per inch so incompatible. Edison designed the ediphone so it could not reproduce entertainment cylinders which I always though odd.

Well that puts the kibosh on that. Guess I gotta $$$ pay up for a Automatic!

That's what I had to do too! But you'll know you did the right thing. And you'll probably never have to buy another one.
