Herzog Phonograph Cabinet

Over on my thread about the Vic III I had a picture of the cabinet that came with the machine. VanEpsFan1914 identified it as a Herzog Cabinet as he has one similar. I thought I'd make a new thread about that cabinet, just in case someone is searching some day and the pictures prove helpful.
The cabinet top was pretty grungy from years of holding up that old Victor III. I want to keep the patina but not the grunge so I took some #0000 steel wool and some GoJo to the whole thing. It came out stunning. After a couple of days when it dries I'll give it some Howard's Feed-N-Wax. The Vic will have a nice place to sit once it is finally finished. Here are the before and after pictures of the Herzog cabinet.
I wish I had a better "before" pic of the top. I should take a screen shot from the video I shot. The screw is not original though I don't believe the one on the bottom is either. At least this latch now works smoothly. One can sort of see just how grungy the top is here. This little guy was lying on the bottom behind the record slats. I believe it is (was) some type of frog. I can easily say I've never found a frog skeleton, or any kind of skeleton for that matter, in any previous phonographs or cabinets. The back had some water damage. I was surprised how nicely the GoJo and steel wool handled it. I'm sure it will reappear when it dries. Luckily this is the back. Perhaps the Feed-N-Wax will keep it at bay After cleaning. I just had to go and take a screen shot of the top before I cleaned it... I just HAD to... I can't impress upon the membership enough just what a dramatic difference this is.
