Hi Folks
After using muratic acid was able to free shaft to rotate and move laterally. It has the two /four min. pulley. No matter how I shift the shaft left or right
I can't get enough clearance to remove the pulleys. What am I missing? Pics coming if needed.

Make sure you have backed off the screw in the middle of the pulley under the belt that locks the pulley on the mandrel shaft. Then holding the pulley with one hand turn the mandrel with the other hand. Sometimes it is hard to turn but you should be able to get the pulley off.

Also look at the collar to the right the feedscrew -- that collar has a lock screw (for sure).

And perhaps at the left end of the feedscrew (between pulley and feedscrew) there may be a second collar (not sure).

When you draw the mandrel shaft to the right and away, the feedscrew needs to stay where it is between the bedplate mounts.

Regarding R. Gordon's comment above, it helps to spray WD40 down the hole where you withdrew the pulley lock screw from. Spray and twist until free; that is, hold the pulley with one hand, twist the mandrel shaft round and round with other hand. Then pull mandrel shaft slowly rightwards to remove. Be generous with penetrating oil on both sides of the feedscrew also.

All set screws have been removed. The mandrel has been removed. There is a collar to the right of the feed screw. Its set screw has also been removed. when I move the shaft to the right to the point that the collar is up against the bearing housing, I still can't get the clearance to remove the pulleys on the left. The pulleys are free from the shaft. The left bearing point with the little gear is free and hard up to the left.

problem solved. feed screw section was "glued" to the shaft. once I freed it from the shaft all went well.
