Seems like a pretty nice machine for the money.
2 years ago it would have cost another grand....
Bargains are out there.

I, too, was surprised to see this machine go so cheap. It all depends on the listing and who is bidding on the item.

As a buyer this was a deal.
As a seller, why not spend a few minutes and some elbow grease and clean up the machine and horn, talk to a few collectors and maybe obtain the reproducer, a bit of polish on metal parts and you get a "market" price.
Just my opinion but if presented properly this machine would have achieved the extra $1K or close to it.
Lesson learned.....Buyers stick it out and look at everything that comes up you never know what you might find. LH

I doubt it would make much of a difference to clean the machine up. I sold a near mint Victor 5 on eBay and it Didnt pass $2200 and a near mint Victor 4 for $2300.... both with speartip horns. I think the market has been adjusting for a while. I wonder if the prices will climb back up?

I think it always pay to present an object as clean and nice as possible. In any market there is a range of prices. I will be selling my pickup in the near future. You can bet that it will be cleaned and polished and the inside will be spotless. I want the prospective buyer to believe that he'll never find a nicer 2000 Chevy. Anyone need a phono hauler? I agree that a better presentation could have helped. The machine is just plain DIRTY, meaning the buyer will have to spend a lot of time cleaning it, which is something that he figures into his bid. At least dust it and provide clear, bright pictures.
