I'm hopeful that this post will not be considered inappropriate for this forum because it deals specifically with microgroove discs.

I own about a dozen or so Beatles 45s, some on the various early labels, and am seeking a the advice of someone knowledgeable regarding the various label variations of these records. I realize that most of these are very common and that the market for them in general has waned considerably over the years.

I would greatly appreciate hearing from anyone who can assist me in this endeavor to approximate realistic values for these. I would very much like to sell them. I know the TMF is not the best place to reach potential buyers of these things. Thanks in advance.

Why don't you try to look for them in discogs? You'll find there maybe your own editions, and if someone is selling them you'll find the prices etc.

I guess I wasn't clear that I had no intention of selling that type of thing here, but only to find someone knowledgeable about label variations that affect value.

In my case, using Discogs seems to be the backward way to find values based on label variations. I first need to find out what those various label variations are and then go from here.

I was being sarcastic. Perhaps we got us a sarchasm.
Send me an email with photos if you can- it can be tricky, as there were several different Parlophone and Odeon label variations, and then there are the Capitols and Vee-Jays... they tended to bring back earlier style labels without all that much to tell the difference by. Generally, the orange/ yellow swirl Capitols are the first pressings. A lot of Vee- Jays look original but aren't. The originals have copyright dates. Apple did not start pressing till mid '68, so anything earlier than that on that label is a re-press. Then, of course, there's condition.

The great thing about Discogs is that you can find your exact label variation and on the page you can see, for instance, how many people own it, how many want it, what it has sold for in the past AND you can even look up past sales to see what what condition the sold records were in. But you probably know all that. It's a great resource for figuring out value though the main issue would be if no record ever came up for sale in the particular variant(s) that you have...

It probably won't help much with label variants, unless it's included in the description, but I've found popsike.com to be a good source of current values of both shellac and vinyl records.

Gripsweat.com, which is another site that compiles record auction results, exclusively those of eBay (I believe) is another resource I use. There's an option to upgrade but unlike popsike there's no limit to how many basic searches can be done.

A knowledgeable member here offered to help me with determining values, which is what I was hoping for.

You might find this helpful: I have found a way to manipulate Popsike's annoying lock-out feature. Here's how I do it: when I search something on Popsike and am "locked out", I go to "sign in with Google" and alternate between my student and Google account as needed. It shows "account details" below the search bar, so I click the "update" button and fool the site into thinking I have somehow modified my account! To be clear, this seems to work once every 24 hours, so you will be limited to a number of searches, but only for the day
