Hi someone out there, whom hoards bits., might just have the remains of a BO with the late 2/4 gearing attached. Don't care how rusty it is. Beggars cannot be choosers. Putting it out there.

Hi,
Are you sure that a 2/4 minute gearing was developed for your machine? I only ask that because it strikes me as being a very difficult thing to engineer. No room between the existing gearing.
And the "usual" Columbia planetary 2/4 minute gearing won't work.
Just an observation.

The BO did have a 2/4 minute option. I've owned mine since 1963, and it has a 2/4 speed control lever. It works perfectly.

There are several types of Columbia 2/4 min conversions. You need to find the correct one for your machine. My BKT has a type with two levers on the feedscrew and my BFT has a round gear box attached to the end of the feedscrew. They are not interchangeable and both operate differently...

Very interesting ! I know the gearbox at the end of the feedscrew shaft works via planetary gearing, but how does the 2 lever device work ?
Thanks !
