New Acquisition-- Spider Leg VV-X

Just thought I'd post a quick pic. I attended a local auction yesterday and came home with a Spider Leg X.. It's in great shape. I'll do a little clean up on it, but it really doesn't need much--

The good (and the bad) is that it was only $40 (plus $4 BP)... Good for me, but shows that the market for machines isn't very strong. The auction was conducted both in-person and online.

I recently sold a larger VV-XVIII, leaving a free corner in our parlor... The X will grace the space well.
Picture below shows it at the auction.

I've always liked the "spider leg" X. The styling is so unique and almost delicate. Every model was different. Thanks for posting.

Now you need an Edison A-150 or Amberola III to keep it company! ;)

Congrats on a great find and a bargain. Question: the A-150 originaly came with a set of six Edison record storage cases to outfit the shelf. Did Victor sell this machine with something similar?

Thanks David and Jerry -- I've always liked the Spider Leg X as well, but had never picked one up... other priorities I guess. I went to the auction specifically for that machine--prepared to pay quite a bit more. I was very surprised to here "sold" at $40! :)

I've had a few A-100's over the years-- Never have had an Amberola III. As David knows, I've been downsizing, but since I sold my Circassian VE-XVIII, that corner has looked bare :) And my granddaughter loves to stand on my feet and dance, so I had to get another machine in that room :) (Blame it on a 3 year old-- Can't get in trouble that way!) :)

I have no idea if Victor made albums specifically for the Spider X... That would be a nice find if they did--

Here's an advert featuring the VV-X, which one could purchase with or without albums. I have a full set of these albums on the shelf of my VV-X.

That's a great ad for the Spider Leg... I may have some albums, though not likely A-E.....if not, gives me something to look for :)
Thanks Much!

I should have mentioned --- these 12" albums (A-E) have nickel-plated pulls on the spines, and silver-colored embossing on the spines and front covers. They are not that easy to find...

Good luck in your quest,
Bob

$10 in 1913 is equivalent to $316 in 2024 dollars! Albums were expensive!

Brad,
Congratulations on your new Spider Leg! We have one and it is one of Lerria's favorite machines.

We do not have the special albums for this machine and I have never seen a set for sale.

These albums must be very rare, but I am glad to see the picture of what they look like.

All the best,

David & Lerria Rosamond
