So we know there’s still some performers around who recorded 78s, but I would imagine that the chances of any cylinder phonograph recording artists being around are minuscule. They continued until 1929, so it would have to be a child performer. Failing that, who was the last one to survive? From browsing Brian Rust’s music hall discography, the most recent death could have been Jay Laurier, who died in 1969, aged 89. I’d be interested to hear of any cylinder performers who died after that.
I posted the above on 45worlds but got no response.

You'd have to go back earlier than 1929--to about 1915--for a "cylinder recording artist." Virtually all of the Blue Amberol cylinder records from that point onward were
acoustically dubbed from disc masters --

As for (one of) the last surviving artists who recorded for Edison, whose records were issued in both disc and cylinder format, Anna Case (1887 - 1984) comes to mind --

Roy Smeck (1900 – 1994) --

So quite late. I hadn’t heard of a couple of these names.
Wonder who the last surviving British cylinder artist was.

Aileen Stanley lived until 1982, she was on Edison Blue Amberol. If you're talking real cylinder artists, that is before 1915, I suspect most of them were gone by the end of the 1960's. Going to the late 1920's, I can't think of any "child performers" who were on Edison BA cylinders.

Edison DD/BA recording artist Anthony Franchini lived until Sept. 1997 and at least two artists that got to record on wax cylinder were still around until 1971: Elsie Baker and Walter Van Brunt. It will be quite interesting to see what other artist names get added to this list.

I doubt 1997 can be beat.
For still fitting the criteria of any cylinder artists that lived beyond the 1960's, Gladys Rice lived until 1983.

a very cool concept and the fact those people live on on originals on wax somewhere...
