October 2, 1908: Died: Will F. Denny, who distinguished himself in 1891at the New England Phonograph Company as a performer of comic songs, followed by a successful career recording for Edison, Columbia and Victor while also appearing on the vaudeville stage.

Will Denny was terrific but died too young. If you’ve never heard “You’ll Have To Get Off And Walk”, on Columbia label you are missing out. He just had a knack for early phonograph comedy and we can only wonder what could have been.
