Victor Auxetophone

I was fortunate enough to bring home this Victor Auxetophone from the recent Stanton auction. I was a bucket list machine for me. It is mostly complete. It is missing the second U-tube for the reproducer and the front door pull. The original motor and air pump are there but seized up. I am hoping to keep it all original. It even came with the original owner's manual. I have the correct reproducer and very large brass bell Victor horn for it. The case looks like it will clean up very nicely.

You'll need to do a video to demonstrate that it can be heard a mile away.

Ken

Congratulations to you. I can't wait to see this machine in working order. I knew you wanted one with the original insides and am glad you finally got one.

When fully restored, how much louder would this machine actually be?

Congratulations Ken,

You're well on your way to a completed and incredible machine. Nice to find one with original guts. As to the sound volume from the other inquiry. I've had the opportunity to hear two others in action. Yes, they had a big horn but with air pressure on two reproducers, in my opinion is 3x - 4x volume. You better stand back to the far wall to listen. ,Fascinating machine in so many ways. Tech at it's best back then.

Best,
D.Edwards

That’s incredible. 3-4x?

I was trying to read up on this a little. How does it work? How does the air compressor run? Is it electric or hand wound?
