This is a soundtrack disc to go with early talking pictures. You had to have both the record and the film synchronized or it'd be out of sync. The turntable that played these were conjoined with a projector.edisonplayer

According to DAHR (https://adp.library.ucsb.edu/index.php/ ... d_symphony), it was recorded on 10/19/1928 by the 25-member "Motion Picture Orchestra" under Nathaniel Finston. By then, surely it would have been an electrical recording; odd, then, that it doesn't carry the "VE" designation in the deadwax. Could Victor have used some non-Western-Electric system, like the Lightray system? I guess that would be possible, since as I understand things Lightray was related to a sound-on-film system.

It’s been in New Zealand still is.
I only collected it because it’s a one sided record.
I have had it for such a long time and I had forgotten about being a 16 inch record it was stuck away so it won’t get broken.
I think I have a different one as well I will post a picture of it.

It's 33 ⅓ rpm, inside start. You can see where the operator was to start where the arrow is.

Thank you

I wasn’t expecting that it was a 33-⅓ record.
Well it’s not going to go with my 78s there might be an argument between them.

Movie sound discs were the first use of the 33 ⅓ rpm speed on records, more than 20 years before the now familiar LP that Columbia marketed in 1948. Although the one you have is "coarse groove" and not "microgroove" like a regular LP. You would need to play it with a 78 rpm type stylus.
