November 26, 1887: Thomas A. Edison applied for a U.S. patent for a “Phonograph.” This machine was powered by a battery-driven motor, and featured Edison’s new “spectacle” reproducer/recorder carriage. The 100 tpi feedscrew would persist on Edison Phonographs for decades.
November 26, 1963: Died: Amelita Galli-Curci, popular lyric coloratura soprano whose exclusive contract with Victor spanned 1916-1930.
