According to one phono site: "Motor Type used in Victor II, shares many of the same parts as Victor III and IV". My question is...are Victor III or IV or any other model's governors the same as in the single spring Victor II (2) model?
I just posted a wanted ad in the Forum Trader for the governor and could use some advice and am willing to buy one. Please see more pics and specifics in my "Wanted" ad....thank you.

You might be just needing a set of governor springs and weights.

I wish that were the case. Both brass pieces of the governor had some of the holes for the spring screws stripped from someone attempting to put the wrong and larger screws in.

Attached below are two pictures of the governor on my Victor III - Monarch. As you can see, the governor on this machine is configured differently than yours. This particular machine has the monarch motor with the early beveled gears, but has always been rear mounted. It’s possible that a later model Victor III might have a different governor. I don’t know if this really helps you, but it is a starting point.

Please do not take this answer as gospel. I checked my machines and also a Victor parts list and I believe that the early Vic O, I, II, III and IV governors share many of the same parts and are essentially the same. A governor off of one of these machines will likely work. The part number for the governor shaft is numbered 963 for all machines. The spring screws are hard to find and reproduction ones aren't available and this means the wrong sized screws are used which ends up in the situation you are in. I believe there is a "parts" Victor O/I motor on eBay right now that would work if you can't source the governor itself. See https://www.ebay.com/itm/267100340489.

The governor in that motor has been heavily botched, (as has the rest of the motor). The brass collar at the worm gear end is from a later governor. Not only that, it is currently installed backwards. The other end, (the friction plate end), might be okay.

Reproduction governor screws, (are early & late model screws the same??)

Agree that that motor is in a bad way and a lot to pay for a governor shaft and screws that may have issues. The late and early governor spring screws are a different size. Walt and I discussed this very topic last year when I was looking for those same screws. Walt said most of the early motors use a #1-56 thread for the screws. The later governors use a #1-72 thread. Apparently no one is making #1-56 thread screws right now. If someone knows of a source for the 1/56 thread governor screws I'm sure a few of use would love to know!
