does anyone have an image or example of what this crazy soundbox should look like when complete please ? it has a variable air gap between the rear inner face & the diaphragm.

Now rebuilt & playing ! The diaphragm surround was advertised as being Vellum or Parchment, the Vellum version I tried was dreadful sounding but I had luck with an Impregnated silk surround that is something like the Nom-Y-Ka diaphragms made for the Astra soundboxes . This soundbox prefers simple pieces like this Piano solo.

Presumably this soundbox is the work of the same A.T.Collier who patented and manufactured the Ebonite/Vulcanite horns fitted to the Seymour Superphone and several EMG internal horn models. The horns are mentioned in "The EMG Story" but not the soundbox.
Is it a recent discovery not known to the late Frank James?

the soundbox was in parts, luckily all in the same bag & amongst a collection of workshop soundboxes in various states of completeness. These have been hidden away until late 2024 & they originally belonged to a guy who had a workshop in Liverpool

Phono-service was the deceased business.

this is the info I was given on the Garrard-Collier soundbox, it was A.T Collier that was involved.
I wonder how many of these survived ? Glad you like the video although the camera mic was pointing directly at the soundbox & picked up the needle hiss.
