I just bought an electrola 101 Off Ebay for only 75$ and everything works except it’s missing a soundbox and I wanted to know if my victrola no 2 sound box will work ( I’m asking this question because the elctrola hasn’t arrived yet ) :)

I believe it should fit, but I'll let the UK based experts chime in.

One disadvantage of using a #2 sound box on this model is that it will restrict the mid-range output of your gramophone, and totally eliminate any impression of bass you'd hear on electrically recorded records--which it was specifically designed to play. The proper #4 sound box also offered a "flatter frequency response," so that certain notes come out sounding more natural.

If you play mostly acoustically recorded records from before circa 1925, this should be no problem, but if you want to bring out the best of the early electrically recorded records--1925-circa 1935--you'd do well to (eventually) hunt down a replacement Electrola #4 sound box, or the HMV/Victor equivalent.

Both the nr 2 and the nr 4 have the same arm connector, so it will fit. But as Orthofan wrote, the nr 4 provides a better reproduction - the nr 2 produces a quite tinny sound.

Exhibition also fits in that arm, if you want to try it with the fabulous horn of the 101... Quite a difference from the old straight conical horns...
