As per title:

He's owned this for 20 years and it's sat proudly in his living room as a 'beautiful aesthetic piece'. It was sold as working, but he has never tested or verified this. Oh my!

This Frankenphone has been on and off UK eBay for months if not years. So far no-one has been fooled.

"A true piece of history" it says.
More like a true piece of c**p!

"Both the body and the horn feature historic marks and dents."
Historic? ...And this mark was made Winston Churchill. It's where he rested his lit cigar.
Columbia Phonographic Co., BH
Hmmm, upon closer inspection, I believe it's a Model BS.

The only interesting thing about it to me is the soundbox, purely because I have one the same, which came from an unknown gramophone about 50 years ago ( I was about 15 then!) and I have never seen another one like it. A friend retrieved it from a shed in which there was nothing left of the machine but the soundbox, a rusty tonearm and horn, which was probably from a table model and (IIRC) had a slatted mouth. If anyone can identify the make of box I would be very interested. I can post up a photo if the images in the links are not clear enough.

I have a few of those soundboxes. To be honest I think they are just cheap off the shelf generic Swiss type with a slightly different fascia plate? Certainly nothing special.

Thanks, Steve. No, I didn't think it was anything particularly special, although the diaphragm guard is rather pretty........

It might be around for a while from what 'epigramophone' has said!
