I was looking at the UCSB cylinder archive and came across an oddity. Ada jones was supposed to have recorded a few songs in about 1895, and then start again in 1905. this sketch by Jones and Len spencer is either misdated or this could be new information.

Heinie, by Ada Jones and Len Spencer, was released in May 1905 on a Gold-Moulded Edison cylinder. If the example in UCSB's collection is on brown wax, it was likely dubbed from the original record by a private individual.

I remember hearing about her recording the song "Sweet Marie" on a brown cylinder for the North American Phonograph Company.edisonplayer.

If you look at the catalogue number 8952 that dates from early 1905. There are always going to be errors. That one is pretty blatant.
