i found this ebay listing for some kind of incomplete german phonograph.
looks in build pretty similar to a Columbia q, but with some big differences.

The missing parts will be nearly impossible to find. Since the seller seems to have no knowledge of phonographs, and is selling miscellaneous piles of parts, I'd look at their future auctions for the missing parts that they may have and not know it. That's if I were the buyer of the incomplete Rectorphone, which I am not...
(I bought a rare steam engine this way. I had to win 4 auctions to get all the parts.)

It's a Rectorphone. Almost got one last year but my friends grandpa had to chuck it in the bin after a flood hit their house.

Right you are about the seller. I thought the same thing and waded through his many listed items with no luck finding the missing pieces. However, it may not be as difficult as you surmise to find the missing parts or at least the most important one--the reproducer. I distinctly recall seeing the needed item or one very much like it in the past year on Ebay! Of course, at the time I had nothing to put it on and no need for it--such is life. As for the missing lead screw follower/reproducer support, horn and collar, they can be easily replicated.
