A Tale Of Two Victors

About a week and a half ago, I was contacted by a friend of mine who was in New York City clearing out a house where two "Victrolas" were found sitting in a basement where they had been for decades and would I be interested in them. A quick photo emailed later revealed two not so run of the mill "Victrolas" and a deal was quickly made. That night, they were delivered and two more projects made their way into my house. They're pretty much finished now with the exception of a couple missing parts that may still surface during the clean out. First is an early L-door VTLA, serial #2711, which places it as early 1907 according to Baumbach:

The other machine was an equally dirty early non L-door XVI, the first style (type E). Other than needing the correct crank, this thing is really nice and turned out with the cleanest original finish I think I've ever seen on a machine. Complete right down to the correct original albums. If anyone has a 5/16 diameter female thread gold crank for this machine, please let me know!

Those are both great and cleaned up really nicely. However, I remember reading a Tale of Two Cities in 8th grade and still can't forget how much I hated that book. Despite that, you are forgiven for bringing back bad memories since you showed us two beautiful machines!!

Can you share your resto secrets with us ??? That is the most amazing finish I've seen in awhile.

Well, spanks @ you! How many L-Doors does a man need? Nice that they're in your care, of course. Very attractive job with the one in this thread !
