Did you buy it recently? Is it the oil bath motor type?
I have the "improved" version with No. 52 oil bath motor and twin lid stays. It's not the best sounding gramophone I have but apart from the EMG / Experts, it is the best sounding commercially built gramophone made anywhere in the world.

It has the 4 spring motor and single lid stay.
