Repainted Cygnet Horn

I bought a nearly perfect #10 Cygnet bell recently. It had approximately 10% of its original finish so it was obviously a repaint project. I checked with a few collectors that I respect and most suggested painting it black. My initial intentions leaned towards black but I played with stains on metal wlth interesting results. So I decided to give it a try and this is the final result. I love it! I don't expect everyone to agree and that's fine. If a future owner cries foul, it pretty easy to re-strip and paint it black. Opinions?

I like it! Looks as if with a bit of tweeking, it could resemble circassian walnut.

Gorgeous. Are you going to do the neck to match? Hope so.

I think you did a nice job, Jerry. Very interesting results. If you decide to share how you did this (ie. which stains you used and how you applied them) it would be appreciated. I have a good number of decent original black Cygnet horns and a couple of decent original faux wood grain Cygnets but one of my Edison oak grain Cygnet horns has considerable flaking paint (very common for the faux oak grain horns). It would be fun to try my luck at doing what you did with this horn if you care to share how you did it.

Yes, I've got an extra elbow back in Oregon. I plan to match the bell. Thanks for all the kind comments.
