I just discovered this yesterday, filmed in 1977 -- The Wonder of the Age - A History of Recorded Music. Many of you likely already know of it or have watched it, but in case not:

This brings back memories of my good friend the late Albert "Joe" Pengelly (1924-2020), some of whose machines were used in the re-creation of his great uncle Ernest's Talking Machine Depot in Plymouth, where he held the earliest agency in the city for the Gramophone Company.

Joe was a presenter on BBC South West for many years, and loaned me his personal VHS copy of the programme to enable me to dub it onto DVD. His co-presenter the late Hugh Scully was also a BBC man, fronting the Antiques Roadshow for many years.

Thank you, Epigramophone, for those observations. I'm no expert in videography, and certainly you all have forgotten more than I'll likely ever know about phonographs, but I found the video to be very well done and essentially factual. It was also a very clean copy for being almost 50 years old.

Best regards,
Charlie
