Victor VV-VIII shipping damage

Hello TMF. Today, probably what many of us's worst nightmares are. SHIPPING DAMAGE!.

Anyway, the damage was minimal, externally just a small chip of wood on the front left door. On the internals, the turntable makes a horrid scraping noise when running now. I reseated the table by pulling it directly up. However after putting it back down, it still makes the horrid scraping noise. I can't quite see what it could be scraping, but I think it's the RPM meter. How should I approach moving the table up/why did is it scraping?

Appreciate the help.

Have you checked if the brake might be scraping on the turntable?

It’s hard to tell even with a flashlight and perfect angle, maybe adding a rubber O-ring to elevate it slight will work?

The turntable needs to be seated properly on the spindle shaft. It should not be modified. When the turntable is turning, and scraping, simply push straight down a bit on the brake lever and see if the scraping stops. It's not uncommon for the brake lever arm to become bent and interfere with the table. Also, be sure that the bolts that mount the motor are tight. If loose, it will allow the motor, and therefore the turntable, to drop down and rub/scrape.
