The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

I have recently restored a cabinet gramophone going by the brand Alottiphone. However, while I believe the model to be of German origin, I can find no information anywhere regarding this particular make or model, although I believe the company may have been bought by Odeon. Alotti were apparently in business for only a year. What is interesting about this example is that the tone arm is made of wood and situated on the left hand side. Any information or comments would be most welcomed.

Maybe if you post a picture of the motor and the soundbox, this would be very helpful. Also the source of the snippets of info you have mentioned.

And a first wild guess would be a very small company in Germany called Ulrich & Brickenstein

BTW - does it function, I see in your photo's that the brake is not engaged but the turntable is not spinning

Starkton gives a good review of the short lived company by a man (Wenzel) who then moved to telling people their horoscopes. Obviously did not forsee the brevity of his own company.

"The two Berlin businessmen Adolf Ax and Kurt Schlott were co-partners and certainly the financiers." So possibly the name came from Ax and Kurt Schlott
