April 23, 1907: John C. English was granted U.S. Design Patent No. 38,537 for “Cabinet for Talking Machines.” This was marketed as the VTLA (Victrola) by the Victor Talking Machine Company.

Thanks for this informative post. I presume that post-Pooley fretwork VTLA production was already in full-swing at Victor prior to this April, 1907 patent date, but I may be incorrect. Any thoughts on this? I am curious as I have a VTLA in the 44xx serial range (which would seem to be from 1907).
