I just hung four horns from the ceiling (my garden) using chain from Loews. 10 ft for 10.00 like the chain used on the horn cranes. I hung from the loop and placed the small end on top the bookcase. You may want to use strong fishing line run all the way thru the horn and tie both ends to the eye hook in the ceiling. See pics for clarification. It will turn out all good!!! James Manker

Yes, there is no reason it shouldn't work just fine.

Before I had a crane for my Edison Home, (my 1st cylinder phonograph), I hung the horn from the ceiling. It worked fine.

Like Jerry, when I was a teenager living with my parents, several of my horns hung from the ceiling. The phonographs played just fine with them. I'm seen a few period images of phonograph horns hung from ceilings. We showed one on page 195 in our book,
Phonographica.
Nowadays, I'd have a problem if I couldn't hang horns from the ceiling!
