Quzzing Bowlly fans

When was this recorded? It's very nice and rather crackly but it is a Decca. You guys will know all the details.

Jim, I've just checked Ray Pallett's discography, and this was recorded on September 23rd, 1932

I wonder about something. The record label indicates the band is at a specific restaurant. Is that more-or-less a promotional thing, or would the recording actually have been made there? I would think not.

As far as I am aware they were recorded in a proper studio. Decca seemed to advertise on their disks (for their premier bands at least) the venue that they were at that time playing "live". For example on their Ambrose records it said "at the Mayfair Hotel" and other Roy Fox "at the Kit Kat Club" etc So to answer your question - yes it was advertising.
