I contacted David about getting a specific asian section added, since there is few information about Asian machines and records in general, I thought it would be good to discuss it here.

This new section is a welcome addition to the forum.
I have six Japanese Columbia records, mainly Western dance music, which came with my G-208 portable.
Three have bi-lingual labels, but the remaining three are in Japanese.
If anyone here can translate these Japanese labels I would be grateful and will post pictures.

Meanwhile here is my G-208, purchased from the grand-daughter of the original owner who purchased it new in Singapore.
He and the gramophone made it back to the UK just before Singapore fell.

Woah cool!! Do you have pics of the records?

In the 1950's a lot of records in Japan were both English & Japanese in one song.

My suggestion for the section heading would be "Japanese & Asian Machines".

This is amazing! And while I don't have any Japanese 78s at the moment (I had about half a dozen Columbias as a kid, including the Neopolitan folk song "Vieni Sul Mar" in Japanese), I love the records and a lot of the machines are ingeniously designed and built. Looking forward to more of this section.

I suppose this is thr right place to post a pic or two of this Japanese phonograph I recently acquired. Along with a bunch of records that came with it, is this record. Google translate says it means "Patriot Song". Check out the Japanese Mitsubishi Zero graphic on the underside of the lid.
