Amberola DX- Need advice

I'm looking into possibly purchasing this player. The seller says it's original, except for the belt and grill. Online photos I've seen show wooden grill work in front of the cloth grill. Might someone have photos of an original DX, or point me in the direction where I can view it? Or is this how it should be? Also, any details about owning one of these: good for a newbie to the world of cylinder players? Thank you

This is what this one looks like.

The Edison Amberola D-X (and X) model was factory released with a faux wood grained metal grille matching the cabinet finish color. The Amberola D-X (it will be stamped as such on the ID plate) has the Edison Fireside motor which is MUCH more reliable at playing 4 minute celluloid cylinders versus the Amberola "X" model which uses the Edison Gem model D motor (a factory blunder in my opinion). The Amberola X will somtimes struggle to play through a 4 minute celluloid cylinder whereas the Edison Amberola DX (with a motor in good working condition) will have no problem. Either model will only play 4 minute celluloid cylinders. Good luck.

I suppose the seller either didn't want to repair a probably damaged grille, or he never had one to work with. Either way, this particular piece is missing what should be there. You are obviously knowledgeable about cylinder players.
Thank you, Doug. 👍
