Here is a record as rare as most any I have. It was recorded in late 1928 and likely released in 1929. It's in terrific shape and sounds amazing. Needle Type records from Edison are rare, but a 12 inch Needle Type with a gold record label are super hard to find.

Thanks for the kind response. There is quite a bit more info in the description of the video on YouTube you might enjoy.

Here are pics of the sleeve for the 12 inch record and full record images. The sleeve is in terrific shape.

The sound is astonishing
Do we know who made the recordings? Were they Edison staff with Edison equipment, or was the recording activity subcontracted tho another company? And the pressing?

I won't pretend to be an expert of the late phonograph era at Edison, but I'm quite sure based on my research for needle type records that Edison had both the equipment for vertical Diamond Disc and lateral Needle Cut in the recording studio. This record was recorded in New York and both the Diamond Disc and Needle Cut were cut simultaneously. This means that the takes are identical for both formats with no dubbing involved. The DAHR site states this and I've run into other references here and there on the web that state the same thing.

If anyone knows more about this topic it would be great to hear it here.
