"Improved Gram-O-Phone Record"

“On This Day in the History of Recorded Sound…”

August 8, 1900: Eldridge Johnson filed for a U.S. patent for “Sound Record.” This new process would introduce the first use of a paper label on the recorded side of a disc. These would be the “Improved Gramophone Record” which appeared at the same time.

That weird time period between Berliner and Victor needs to be looked at more.
