This reproducer is from the Home Model B player where I got skunked on the purchase, and continue to have a bad go around at every attempt to get it working. That's my boo-hoo for the day, back to the topic at hand.

I haven't been able to play any cylinders yet, so I'm curious if the reproducer is even any good - it would be par for the course if it weren't. Is it possible to tell from these attached photos? I don't know how to tell.

Stylus looks good from the photos, but it's hard to tell unless you can get a closer shot. If you are unsure if it's been rebuilt then just assume it hasn't and replace the gaskets. Rebuilding a model c is very easy, just get a jewelers screwdriver set and you're fine.

Thanks for that. I'll check out some YT videos.

Make sure the limit pin is there. Long thin screw attached to tail weight that adjusts vertical positioning of the stylus. if it's missing the nothing keeps the stylus bar in alignment.

It's hard to see in your pictures.

I checked mine after seeing your photo. I appreciate that, BTW. It is there, but doesn't protrude as far as yours. (See attached photo) Also, if I may opine, the part where the pin passes through, may have been bent so the pin can touch. (?) Is enough of the pin present to do it's job? Is this pin something that can be pulled out a little further?

It's not a pin it's an eccentric screw, as you turn it it will raise and lower the tail weight and adjust the contact point of the stylus on the record. You want it adjusted so with the reproducer in play position on a record the limit screw is in the center of the limit ring.
