Does anyone know if the Eagle flat key/lock used on the early Amberola 1As used a standardized key (one works on all 1As) or was each one different?
thanks!

As far as I have been able to tell, different key codes were used. The code on my key is: 6M5. The code is stamped on the lock - (you may need to remove the lock to see the code).

That's what I was afraid of. Lucky the machine was not locked up!
Thank you for your reply!

I just checked my 1A - my key code (6M5) is stamped (upside down and in tiny letters) on the back of the door lock.

I have two of the early flat Amberola keys I purchased for a lyre grill 1A. Neither one of them works.

I brought the 1A home today and found the key underneath the bottom drawer. The number is 6M5! Very lucky!

That is a very rare key. You may have noticed that a number of eBay sellers advertise similar keys as Amberola 1A keys - however, most of them are much too long to have ever been fitted to a 1A. Yours looks to be original - congratulations!
