This bit of minutiae may appeal to a small number of collectors here but I would like to set the record straight and correct some earlier observations posted here.

It was noted in a recent post about the thread sizes used by Victor parts. Victor was very fond of using #14-24 (TPI) threads on many of their fasteners. These are often (mis) identified as ¼-24 (TPI).

Cutting tools to thread the now obsolete #14-24 special thread series are still available from VictorMachinery Exchange https://www.victornet.com/subdepartment ... /1260.html.

The major diameter of the #14 thread is slightly smaller than ¼”. A external ¼-24 thread will fit a #14-24 but rater loosely and vice versa. Common examples on Victor are the motor board hold down bolts and horn elbows bolts, the bolts on the rear panels of Orthophonic machines and various bolts in the Style I changer.

Good idea, go ahead and repost it in the Tips section. As a comment, there are many postings that could fit into several categories. For example George’s informative On this Day postings often contain a Patent reference. Would you prefer that these were in the Patent section? It might make them easier to reference.

Question, what is George going to do next year? Maybe he has many more On the Day announcements saved up…
